Your 5 Day Itinerary: A Herper’s Dream

Here is a look at what you will do during your 5 days with us.

Day 1: Arrival and Preparation in Entebbe

Welcome to Uganda! When you arrive at Entebbe International Airport, our professional guide will be waiting for you. We will take you to your hotel to rest.

In the evening, we will have a briefing about the safari. Your guide will explain what animals we hope to find and give you tips on how to safely observe them. We will check our equipment and get ready for the adventure ahead.

  • Overnight: Entebbe (Hotel/Lodge)

Day 2: Mabamba Swamp and Herping Adventure

After a good breakfast, we will head to the Mabamba Swamp. This is a famous wetland area. While many people come here to see the Shoebill Stork, we are also looking for water snakes, monitor lizards, and a huge number of frogs. We will use a canoe to move quietly through the channels. This allows us to get close to wildlife without scaring it. In the afternoon, we will do a nature walk to look for lizards and snakes in the nearby vegetation.

  • Main Focus: Water snakes, Monitor Lizards, Frogs, and Birds.
  • Overnight: Entebbe (Hotel/Lodge)

Day 3: Journey to Lake Mburo National Park

Today, we travel west to Lake Mburo National Park. This is a beautiful park with open savannah and acacia woodland. It is the perfect place to spot lizards and snakes that love the sun.

On the way, we will stop at the Equator for photos. In Lake Mburo, we will go for a game drive. While we look for zebras and impalas, we will also keep our eyes open for Rock Pythons and Monitor Lizards basking on the rocks.

  • Main Focus: Savannah reptiles, Rock Pythons, Skinks.
  • Overnight: Lake Mburo (Lodge/Tented Camp)

Day 4: Boat Cruise and Night Herping

Lake Mburo is great for water life. We will take a boat cruise on the lake to see hippos and crocodiles. This is a great chance to see these massive reptiles up close in a safe way.

The real adventure begins at night. After dinner, we will go for a Night Herping Drive. Many snakes and frogs are nocturnal (active at night). With our torches, we will search for night adders, tree frogs, and maybe even a chameleon. This is often the highlight of the trip for our guests.

  • Main Focus: Crocodiles, Night Adders, Tree Frogs, Chameleons.
  • Overnight: Lake Mburo (Lodge/Tented Camp)

Day 5: Final Morning Walk and Departure

We will wake up early for a final guided nature walk. This is a great time to see birds and maybe find a snake warming up in the morning sun. After the walk, we will enjoy breakfast and start our drive back to Entebbe.

We will drop you off at the airport or your hotel. You will leave with amazing photos and memories of Uganda’s incredible wildlife.

  • End of Safari.
